Downloading, Installing, and Configuring TSM 6.2 for Windows XP/Vista/7 and Windows Server 2003/2008

Question:
How do I download, install, and configure Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) 6.2 for Windows XP/Vista/7 and Windows Server 2003/2008?
Answer:
Important: These instructions are for a new installation of the TSM client. To upgrade to a newer version of the client, perform only steps 2, 3, and 16.
Important: If you are behind a firewall, port 1500 must be opened in the firewall for the backup client to work. You must add the TSM server's IP address (198.82.162.47) to your list of trusted IP addresses.
To download, install, and configure TSM:
  1. Contact Eliza Lau at lau@vt.edu to register your computer's node name.
  2. If it exists, delete the folder [C]:\tsm_images\TSM_BA_Client.
Note: Replace [C] with the letter of the drive containing a previous TSM installation.
  3. Install the TSM Windows client:
    1. Log on to your computer with an account that has computer administrator privileges.
    2. Go to the Network Backup Service page (http://www.computing.vt.edu/security_and_viruses/network_backup/).
    3. Depending on whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit, download and install the appropriate file:
      • If you are running a 32-bit version of Windows:
        1. Click the TSM Client 6.2.3.0 Download for Windows 32-bit link.
        2. Click the 6.2.3.0-TIV-TSMBAC-WinX32.exe link.
      • If you are running a 64-bit version of Windows:
        1. Click the TSM Client 6.2.3.0 Download for Windows 64-bit link.
        2. Click the 6.2.3.0-TIV-TSMBAC-WinX64.exe link.
Note: If you are unsure whether you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows, see Determining Whether an Operating System is 32-bit or 64-bit in Windows XP/Vista/7 (http://answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/3528/)
    4. Save the file to your desktop.
    5. Run the installer that you downloaded:
